Game Development
Tool: Game Maker
Open up Game Maker, FPS
Creator, and 3D Gamemaker
and get familiar with the interfaces. Many game development tools
are out there to make games. We are using either Game Maker or FPS
Creator, because you can quickly make games using drag-and-drop actions
with your mouse. You can even change audio, images, and gameplay!
Game Maker
1.
Learn about
Game Maker. Game Maker
Documentation will tell you about sprites (image objects), sounds,
backgrounds, and gameplay actions. You don't need to read all of
this, because we'll talk about these and learn Game Maker together,
but it's good to know how to get answers to your questions on your
own too.
2. Think about
Resources.
Sprites, backgrounds, sounds, and other game objects are available
in packs if you don't want to make your own from scratch. You can
also find more tools to make objects yourself.
3. Look at Tutorials.
Tomorrow you will start by learning how to make games in Game Maker
using the "Your First Game" tutorial. If you think you'll
want to try another tutorial too, look at the options and think
about which one you'll want to try.
FPS Creator
1. Learn about FPS Creator. The Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ) will tell you about general features,
technical points, and 3D graphics and models. We will go through
the basic steps to make a game, but it is good to know where to
go to find your own answers.
2. Think about
Downloads.
In order to edit characters and segments, you will need additional
tool help.
3. Look at the
Forum.
Although there are no tutorials available, you can look through
the forum for help. You need to register an account to post, but
you can read the boards without registering.
3D Gamemaker
1. Learn about 3D Gamemaker. The online
video demonstration will give you basics about using the program.
2. Think about
Model
Packs. These have to be paid for to use, so you may try creating
your own.
3. Look at the
